Here’s the answer:

The beauty spas then started cashing-in and profiting big-time by marketing "beauty" services and products to get rid of "cellulite". Remember that Greek ninny Sisyphus who was forever pushing the stone up the hill only to see it run down again?
That's the modern day dieter.
You'll see why in just a moment...
Before that, though, let me stress that I REALLY hate dieting.
It's not because diets don't work.
It's that they don't work for more than a few weeks beyond the time you finally come off them.
I am sure you know what I mean.
Worse than the fact that the weight comes back, is that a little more comes back than you were able to take off!
Take off 10 pounds, put back 12.
Take off 15 pounds, put back 20.
Most of us engage in this Sisyphean behavior. Repeatedly.
And watch the needle on the bathroom scales jump about over time like a stock market ticker tape with an ever upwards trend.
It's like our own punishment from Zeus for believing that we are smarter than our own bodies and can command our weight at will.
Trouble is, we can't.
Not if we try to go about it using the yo-yo dieter's mindset.

Men have it easy when it comes to weight loss.
Evolution has designed their bodies to resist fat accumulation, and to practically melt off the fat at a moment's notice. OK, so that might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but compared to the fat lady who has to sing for her supper, men have it easy.
Women were not meant to lose weight. Not according to nature which has arranged things so that fat accumulation is EASY for the girls. Especially when it comes to putting weight on in the area of the hips, thighs, and butt.
There is a good reason for this, of course, and it has to do with a woman's reproductive role in the species. Women need to be carrying an extra 20 pounds or so of fat before their body will play ball and prepare itself for ovulation each month.
So a woman's body will hold onto that fat, quite literally, for dear life. The life of the next generation.
So there's that element to contend with when you are trying to figure out why the weight is not coming off very easily.
But there are other factors that come into play as the years pass and a woman moves from her twenties to her thirties. Her hormones begin to wane as she moves away from her most reproductive years. But they do not all drop at the same rate and imbalances creep in.
Which can be a big problem. After years of fine balancing for body weight maintenance, the ever greater lop-sidedness of hormone concentrations can skew to favor what appears to be fairly sudden weight gain in a woman's mid-thirties.
And until she figures out how to rebalance those hormones, exercise and careful monitoring of calories is not likely to help all that much.
In effect, her body has become weight loss resistant. And yet, this is just one of MANY ways that it can happen.

If I say the words "lose weight" the first two concepts likely to spring into your mind are "diet" and "exercise".
There are several reasons for this. One is that you really can't expect to be able to change your body weight for the long term if you are not prepared to make changes in at least one of these areas. Food is the means by which you put energy and nutrients into your body. Physical activity is the means to converting those components into raw work and the development of a fitter more capable physical system (your body).
So you really SHOULD think about exercise and nutrition when your goal is to shed some unwanted pounds of fat, which is the result of adding more energy to your body than can be burned by your metabolism (which is very dependent on your level of physical activity).
But there is another reason why you think "diet" and "exercise". It is because those two concepts are hot on the lips of almost everyone that has ever offered you any advice about how to slim down.
The result is that your subconscious mind has become conditioned to think "diet" and "exercise". Just like Pavlov's dog that salivates at the sound of a bell. You are quite aware that these are the "solutions" to being heavier than you want to be. You don't doubt the truth of these beliefs, and you would expect to see results if only you put them into effect long enough.
But there are usually other accompanying thoughts and beliefs about diet and exercise that are just as important to the weight loss story. They usually go something like this: You hate diets of any kind because being hungry is no fun, and besides you couldn't possibly give up the foods that help you get through your day. You don't have time to relax, let alone to exercise, so don't even think of trying to carve out a workout schedule - it's just not going to happen. You don't NEED to take care of the problem now. Being overweight is a burden, but millions of people deal with it, so you can too.
Carolyn Hansen, the author of The Weight Loss Motivation Bible says that you mind is like software, and that these secondary thoughts are like errant commands in the code, or bugs, that get in the way of execution of the code that you really want to run, which is the set of commands that would have you actually making changes to the way you eat and the manner in which you exercise.
You have to flush out the bugs before you can expect to be able to implement a weight loss plan of action that has a real chance to succeed. Most people fail to recognize this requirement and jump into their next promising eating plan or exercise regime before they have purged their mind of the gremlins that will shortly interrupt their progress.
That's why 95 percent of attempts to lose weight do not result in the kind of outcome that was hope for.

When it comes to dieting you will find all kinds of crazy and faddish diets on the market today. In addition to the many diets there seems to be every kind of diet aid you can imagine. From shakes the diet industry has evolved to include everything from candy bars and pudding to pills and patches. Each item makes the claim that it can help you drop those unwanted pounds quickly and easily. Well I can tell you for a fact there is very little easy for must of us about dropping a few pounds.
If you would like a few tips that should make your weight loss goals a little easier to achieve then perhaps the following tips will help you out.
Drink Plenty of Water
There really isn’t enough that can be said about the importance of drinking water in an effort to reach your fitness goals. Water hydrates the body first and foremost but water is also an important way of tricking your body into believing it is full. Other drinks do not work nearly as well as water in this endeavor and many drinks, even fruit juices, contain empty calories that you can ill afford when dieting.
Another great thing about drinking a lot of water while dieting is that it helps your skin retain its elasticity so you can avoid some of the ‘loose skin’ look that often accompanies massive weight loss. As an added bonus drinking plenty of water will have your skin looking radiant and beautiful as well.
Having goals is one of the most important things you can do when working to loose weight. Try to make sure that your goals are aggressive but can be achieved. If you are frustrated early in the dieting process by unrealistic goals you are much more likely to give up. However, challenges are always going to inspire us to achieve greater things in life. If you can find a ‘weight loss partner’ in order to have a little friendly competition for the weight loss totals for a week or a month then you are going to be far more likely to accomplish your goals than if you keep them quietly to yourself.
Did you read that twice? Yes, eat more healthy foods that are high in fiber. Eat more vegetables and fruits-fill up on these foods that are good for you and you will not be inclined to binge on calorie laden junk food.
While this seems a little too simply stated for most, getting up and moving is one of, if not the absolute best way to burn calories. The simple truth is that you are not going to lose weight unless you use more calories than you consume. The more activities you enjoy that burn calories, the more likely you are to shed those unwanted pounds and meet your weight loss goals.
Some great activities that actually burn calories include the following: gardening, golf, dancing, playing volleyball, walking, jumping rope, playing hop scotch with your little ones, and playing tennis. I mention these activities because you can trick yourself into believing that you aren’t really exercising while burning calories. Even cleaning house requires movement and energy and if you dance around a little to some good music in the process you might burn a few extra calories.
Dieting, when successful can help restore self image and self-esteem in people who are otherwise beautiful people inside and out. The steps above are not the only things that are involved in the dieting process but they can help you reach your weight loss goals particularly when combined with a diet plan that you feel confident you can follow. Be sure that on those days when will power is non-existent that you do not derail your diet efforts all together by giving up. The most important thing you can do when dieting is to go back to dieting once you’ve strayed.

Obesity is at record levels, and people are dying because of it! Hopefully that got your attention. It seems as though we are constantly being told just how bad the problem of people being overweight is, and the trend seems to be going up. At the same time, there are people who are interested in exercise and healthy eating to lose weight. Unfortunately, far too many of them don’t lose any weight, and some end up weighing more than when they started. What follows are some ways to keep this from happening to you.
The basic formula for calories is that 3,500 calories equals one pound of body weight. In other words, if you take in that many calories, you will gain a pound; if you burn off that many calories you will lose a pound. There are some slight variations based on the foods you eat and what activities you do, but this simple formula is good to know.
Now, looking at the math, we can see that 3,500 divided by the 7 days in a week works out to 500 calories per day. Therefore, if you can get rid of an extra 500 calories each day, you will lose a pound. You can do this through any combination of taking in fewer or burning more calories. For example, if you would take in 300 fewer calories and burn 200 more calories, then that would add up to 500, or a loss of one pound per week.
Eating healthy so you can lose weight means eating the right kinds of foods and choosing foods that are lower in calories. If you are exercising as part of your effort to lose weight, then you will actually be able to eat a bit more so you can fuel your body for its workout. However, don’t use exercise as an excuse to eat whatever you want. You still need to watch what you eat if you want to get rid of those extra pounds. But burning more calories through exercise will allow you to eat more than if you were sedentary.
Exercise and healthy eating to lose weight go hand-in-hand in another way. How? Well, exercise has been shown to increase metabolism. First, it will increase it while you are working out, and for a short while after you’re done. Second, muscle burns more calories than fat, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you’ll burn, even when you are at rest. Having your metabolism boosted means you will be burning the calories you eat at a faster pace. If you have any high-calorie items on your diet menu, then eating them close to your workout will help your body burn it off more quickly.
Not all exercise is created equal when it comes to losing weight though. Resistance exercises, such as weight lifting, are better at building metabolism boosting muscle tissue. The reason is that muscle needs to constantly receive fuel, even when you are resting, but fatty tissue does not. So, as you can see, exercise and healthy eating to lose weight is about attacking the problem from two angles, and making the right choices.

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BITES
Nutritional Information: 2 balls = (3 oz. protein, 1 tbsp. fat, 1/4 cup carbs)
Makes approximately 25 balls
Preparation time: 7 minutes
* 1 cup natural peanut butter or almond butter
* 1/4 cup honey * 3 cups slow cooked oatmeal (grind in blender first for a cookie dough texture)
* 2-3 scoops vanilla or chocolate whey protein (I love chocolate)
* 1/3 cup water
Optional: For added flavor, you can add coconut or dark cocoa nibs (65% higher chocolate chips or cocoa nibs).
Mix together in a bowl and then roll into 1-inch balls. Eat right away or freeze for an on-the-go treat!
